Tonight I got to reading everyone's blogs and then realized I hadn't written for a couple of days. There are a couple of things I have been meaning to add. The first is that Leon led a men's choir on Sunday in Sacrament meeting. They had about twenty men and they sang, "Come, Come Ye Saints." Their accompanist was a returned missionary who played it with just the top hand. Actually it sounded pretty good. Our family would have been very proud of his effort.

The second thing is Okra. Down here most everyone likes okra. It is weird. It comes from a weed. A lady in the ward gave me some to try. She gave me some corn meal flour to bread it with too. But we did not like it because it didn't have much taste. Last night we tasted some that someone had made into pickles and it wasn't bad. I guess I just need to know how to cook it.

Monday was our p day and we cleaned a little and baked bread and a meal for Sis Cornell and family. Leon took it up to them while I finished baking the bread. Then we prepared a family home evening for the Young Family and went up there for dinner and FHE. They are the ones who have the lovely home up on the lake. We had grilled Salmon and other stuff that was wonderful!! It was so very good. Bro. Young is not a member, but she is and is in our Relief Society Presidency. There are quite a few women in this situation that married men and never did get them to join the church. The Youngs are our age and she is still working while he is retired. She is an Anethesiologist (sp) and works in the hospital in Dallas.

We walked around their home and down to the lake and enjoyed the scenery and all. Honestly I loved being there, but would not want all that responsibility of that huge house and grounds. They said it took them a year for the contractor to finish it. The contractor is still working on some areas of the outside. But we are so happy that they are in our ward. We gave them a lesson of faith since we figured he was still back at the first principle of the Gospel. We were glad we did that because he was a little wary of us. Hopefully next time he will not have to feel that way. They did invite us back

Today was district meeting in Duncanville which is part of Dallas. There was only four of us, but it was a good meeting. Dad led the singing and I gave a thought and we did some role playing that was very interesting. We also had a talk and some training from the other Elders. They always bring the soft chairs in from the foyer for us to sit on. Isn't that nice! We always thank them a lot. Today we brought chocolate cookies for them also. They liked that. We went to subway afterwards with them.

One funny thing that happened was that during the role playing we were suppose to be the missionary couple that had been meeting with the missionaries for two years. Dad was talking to them and telling them all of the reasons for not getting baptized when I just turned to him and said, "Well, if you'd just quit smokin and doing all of the things you shouldn't be doing, you could get baptized." I guess the Elders were so surprised at that comment that they just cracked up. We have a good time with those Elders. Dad is generally the funny one, though.

Tonight Elder Whiting and I went to visit the Vega family and deliver their family home evening manual. We visited with them and arranged to pick up Carlos (age 12) tomorrow and take him to the church and teach him the pattern in passing the sacrament. He has just been ordained a deacon, but hasn't been coming. So we thought if he understood he would be more likely to look forward to coming. Also then when his Dad is given the Priesthood, he can teach him how to pass too. We enjoy their family and they like our visits, (maybe because often we bring them things.)

Tonight their eldest daughter, Annabelle ask us some questions about going on a mission. Right now she is not even coming to church so we have some work to do with her it looks like. She is 19 and going to college. That would be such an exciting thing for her. I think with some follow through, we could help her to get on her way. They like us to come because we teach them of our culture and customs which they are not totally oriented to. They also think we are fun, I think.

We called Bob Cornell tonight and he said Milly was in a lot of pain tonight. We will go over to the hospital in the morning and see her. They had to put four pins in her arm to hold it from the three breaks. But she will be doing a lot better in a few days. We hope to be able to teach them this week.
