Saturday night, May 2

Whoa, we are having an amazing thunder and lightening storm right now. It is pouring out buckets of water from heaven. The water is running in rivers past our apartment. The lightening just keeps on coming and the thunder just rolls and rolls over the plains. We have been on a tornado watch almost all day. Now it is a flood watch. The skies have been very dark all day and just very errie!!

In spite of the weather, we have been busy today. I mixed peanut butter cookies today and while I was getting ready, Elder Whiting baked them for us. He did a great job, too!! We took some with us up to teach the Jeannie and Monica Via, and also gave some to Troy, our First Ward Mission Leader. Then later we took some over to Mark, who lives in our complex. I promised him some yesterday. He was delighted according to Elder Whiting.

It was fun to be with Jeannie and Monica today. They are such good people and we love them. Troy taught them the first lesson all over again. We assisted here and there wherever he asked us to. They were patient with our explanations. Jeannie is working full time now at a truck stop and Monica is going to High School.

We got a call from Bishop Peck today. He had been over to the ward building and met a black fellow from Africa who wanted to attend church and also wanted to learn about the Gospel. So he called and gave us his name and telephone number and I called and set up an appointment for later this afternoon. He was a college student and his sister in another part of Dallas had just been baptized and he went to her baptism. He was so impressed that he also decided he wanted to learn more. So we taught him a little about the church and told him we would come back later in the week and teach him some more. His name was Allan.

Allan was excited about the things we taught him and wanted us to come back as soon as possible, even though he is taking finals this week. He is also coming to church in the Second Ward tomorrow. We sure hope that he comes. We are a little hesitant because the last fellow who was excited about the church, and was from Africa fizzled out on us after the first visit. We don't know if that is their nature or what!?
