Tues, May 12

Good weather here, for a change. The "tanks" are all full and flowing over because of all the rain we've had in the past month. But it is beautifully green everywhere. There has been a lot of mud flowing on roads, and water is still running in the overflows, not too much though.

We saw Alan today and taught him the third lesson. We also told him that we had taught him all the lessons now and that we just needed to teach him the commandments and then we could talk to him about baptism! We asked if he would like that, and he said, "yes!" Elder Whiting and I were both taken back by how easily he agreed to that!!! He has been the easiest one we have ever had to teach. Elder Whiting called Sister Hansen this morning and had her send missionaries to his Sister whom we taught last week. They were both very excited about the lessons at that time. We invited Alan to Mark's baptism on Saturday and also to the potluck at Joe Stratling, (if the weather holds out.) He agreed to come to both. We hope he does so he can get acquainted.

Christy is getting excited about her baptism. We have actually taught her everything plus but have just been adding because she said she wasn't ready. Today we taught her the importance of obeying the commandments to the best of our ability and then we just sort of reviewed the things we had taught her. We put emphasis on how we use the Lord's name. She accepted it very readily and was not offended. Yay!! We also ask Boyd if he was thru with his coffee. He kind of hedged a little. Elder Whiting then told him of the blessings that he would have if he would obey that commandment. He was rather taken back by everything, but said, "yes, he would quit." It was a good time together. Christy is coming to the church to meet with the district Elders tomorrow for her baptism interview. We will continue to meet with them and support them until the baptism a week from Saturday. Christy and Boyd are still looking for jobs and hoping for the right calls any day.

Tamara and Joe Eilers were both home today, but Joe did not come in the house. As we left, we said, "hi," and invited them to the potluck at the Stradlings on Saturday also. Joe said he thought they could come. Joe is not a member and goes the the Baptist church. We asked Tami if she would ask him to teach us what he knows about the Baptists. We thought that would be a way to get to know him. Who knows?

We took the Spanish Elders to Dennison and went to our last appointment who bombed out on us. We had to reschedule Rose for Thursday night. I hope it goes thru.

Tomorrow we have a District Meeting, Baptism interviews for Mark and Christi, and teach Alex, Johnny, Juho, and Donny. We also have our ward missionary meetings tomorrow night. We love it when our days are full, it helps us to feel productive and helpful to the Lord. We need to be looking for more people to teach as we baptize the ones we have. The Lord has done such a great job in preparing those that we have, that we have faith that he will continue to find others. We will just keep asking for his help.
