Bill and Michelle

Yesterday we went out to teach/see Bill and Michelle. Bill is our only person left to teach at this point. Everyone else has, one by one, dropped away from our pool. We have not been able to see Bill for about a month because Elder Whiting was sick and Bill was gone. When we got there yesterday, Bill was sick with a high fever, the flu. So we taught Michelle about Agency, plus accountability, plus responsibility, plus repentance, equals joy and happiness! The reason we chose this was because of the overlap of blaming and not taking responsibility for their own actions in their home. It is rather unhealthy.

But what was interesting is that when we were through and had talked about how important agency and accountability was, etc., Michelle said to us, "Do you guys think I need to repent?"

We replied, "no, we were just teaching you a lesson on agency." Then she said, "How do you choose the lessons you give?" And we just told her we went by the spirit. Michelle started to cry and said, I think you two were sent here just for me!"

Michelle also confirmed that she did need to repent, blah, blah, blah. It is funny the things that we were saying was not aimed towards anything but the conditions we saw that needed to be fixed, but the spirit told her what she needed to do.

Also we have been taught a great lesson. This family needs us and maybe that is the reason why we are here. The scriptures tell us that "Great shall be your joy if ye shall bring one soul unto Christ." Maybe this family is the one that we have been sent here to help. All I can say is, "This is a big job!" And we don't even have a baptismal commitment from Bill yet!

Tonight is the Ward Halloween party at the home of the Downards. Sis Revera is helping us by getting Nachos stuff for us to serve and we are giving treats and missionary Door reminders for being a missionary. There should be non-members there and we hope to become better acquainted with all. Michelle and the kids should be there, we don't know about Bill. He is still in the throngs of the flu.

Also Wyonne invited us to a luncheon/barbeque for Efren at noon. We need to go to support them. Who knows, maybe it will make a difference?! I did talk to Yvonne today about getting their new baby blessed. This would be a step in the right direction for their whole family.

I have to say that we feel so blessed to be able to serve this branch. They have been very trusting of us and we love them. They mostly do all they can to help.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that Michelle now calls Elder Whiting, "Elder Bob." She says he looks more like a "Bob" to her. She has a lot of respect for him. She thinks he should be the Prophet or something similar. She says he reminds her of President Kimball. That is funny. Michelle did not have a father in her life and relies on the spirit he carries.
