Sat, July 12

For the last two days we have been trying to make appointments with people, but there are a lot of people who are out of town. Yesterday we stopped and saw the Millers and returned a book to them, then we drove around clear out in the country for a couple of hours, but never did find anyone at home. Finally we gave up and came home and worked on the last section for Julie's Baptism Book. She loves the book. We will give her the rest next week. She and her sisters and mom are moving into town, it will be a better environment for them, We think.

This morning we drove over to the home of David Criddle for a meeting. He actually called and set it up with us and wanted us to come and pray for him. He is 74 years old and still working hard at his own business. He says he has been a teacher of high school and college. I'm not sure what he is doing now, but he is very busy. We went over for a few minutes and visited and Leon gave him a blessing as he is having some health issues. He also invited us back next Saturday. The Ward list says he is a High Priest, but no date. He says the reason he joined the church was because everyone was so nice to him in Arizona where he lived then.

He was a nice man, but a million things seem to be going on with him. He said he had to run to Dallas this afternoon. He is amazing for 74 years old. He said he grew up here and just came back cause he missed it. I didn't see any spouse or hear of one.

Later we stopped some chocolate cookies off to the Vega Family. He was baptized in the Spring and we just want to keep them under our wing so we can support them and help them as new members. They were on their way to ball game for their son. I hope we help them. They always seem happy to see us.

We drove around and called many people. One of them said they wanted their name taken off the records of the church, so Leon told them what to do. After hanging up, he gave them the rasberry. It was kind of funny.

President South called and told us that he had gone to Girls camp last night and spent some time with the girls. Two of the girls who went were not baptized, even though they were 15 or so. They told President Last night they wanted to be baptized. So he told them they would have to have the lessons. Their problem is that their Dad is not a member and they will have to do what he says until they turn 18. But their Mom is and we had stopped to see them and dropped off some brownies a couple of weeks ago. We will have to wait and see.

Tomorrow is Sunday. We are hoping to have all of our contacts out to church, plus a few more that we have been visiting. We will pray for them.
