Today is the day!!!

Elder Whiting and I just got back from a getting me a hair trim and style. My perm is about gone and I just used the stylist of Tony Zimmerman. She did give me a good cut. I had the hair cut off from my neck and I'm sure it will be a lot cooler.

This week has been hard because we didn't know whether to plan on staying or leaving. We were a little discouraged because I thought it wouldn't be long until we left because Pres. Warner had mentioned that we were needed worse in other places. So we kind of let things die down a little here. Yesterday we had our interview with Pres. Smith. He said he hasn't had the spiritual revelation to move us as yet, so we should just carry on. So we will. At least we know now.

We have an Enrichment Meeting tomorrow night at the Young's home up on the lake. I have been calling people and reminding them, visiting them and inviting, and doing all I could to be sure everyone had a ride and knew about it. I left several messages on answering machines.
Dad is doing a demonstration of cooking over the campfire with no utensils like he has done before on the coals. Yummy, it makes my mouth water to think about it!! We are also having a dutch oven dinner and a class on fall gardening and crocheting and knitting. They are making infant hats for the wives of the Marines, I think.

Leon and I are meeting several people at the church so they can either ride with us or follow us in their car. The Cornells are going with us. Holly and her Mother in Law are driving up with Sister Williams, and the Vegas are coming and bring a sister who is not a member. We stopped by and invited Sister Saul and hopefully she will come. When we stopped at her work, she saw me and smiled and said "I'm coming to church on Sunday!" That was so good to hear because last Sunday was the first Sunday she had been to church since we arrived here. We are seeing progress a little at a time.

Last night, Wednesday, Dad went to the church and worked on membership in the computer and I went for a walk around the man made lake across the Street. It has lots of Lily pads and they are so pretty. It is about a mile clear around the Lake and I enjoyed the walk. It was only about 85 outside and it was nice even though the humidity was high.

Monday night we had Family Home Evening with the Jonte Family. The Mom is Hispanic and has been a member for a long time. She teaches school and has one daughter (15) left at home. The father is a convert, baptized 2 years ago. Sister Jonte was a Migrant worker when she was a kid, in Idaho and around. She now has her degree and this is her 2nd year teaching. They have been married about 4 years, I would guess. A very interesting family. Bro. Jonte is also a school teacher in a different school.

Paloma, her daughter, is pretty independent and I hope they don't lose her. I suggested to Sister Jonte that they consider getting her in as much music as they can find. She needs to be busy doing something that will help her to feel good about herself. She is a sweet girl and does need some good friends.

Leon and I have been listening to some talk cd's that President Warner had given to all of the couples. They are on Spiritual awareness and we are trying to digest them. They are pretty deep and apply some principles that I had not thought of before. I will talk more about them as I understand how to apply them in my life.

glad to hear you get to stay for a little longer. Embrace this month because I have a feeling it will be your last one there. Amazing what you guys have done in so little time. It is neat to hear of your love for the people.

The friendships that you have made thus far will stay with you forever. What a great feeling to know that! What a blessing (especially when you realize that we are here on this earth for many reasons: one of which is to love each other)!

Thank you for your example to us!
