Friday, Sept 12

This is pre-hurricane day. So far so good. We have been watching things over the internet pretty closely. Elder Whiting has also had his Ham Radio on and with us all day. It has been a great day. We got up and walked this morning and prepared for the day. When we left the apartment we prayed that we would be led to those people who need us. And it was amazing.

We went out to Julie's house and took her the paperback Book of Mormon picture and comic book for kids. Some of them were outside and Julie had just come outside with her mom right after her. Wendy, her mom, told us later she was just starting to throw a fit because she couldn't do something she wanted to do. Anyway they welcomed us very warmly into the house and we gave Julie the book which she loved. They were all so happy to see us. We hadn't stopped by for a while and they just seem to need a visit and some interest paid to them. We talked for about an hour and then we had to make ourselves get up and leave. They all just gathered around us. Julie spent the whole time we were there reading the book we took her. She was about half way through.

We came back to Cosicana and Elder Whiting stopped and talked to his Ham Radio Friend to find out what the needs were going to be. That was informational for him. We then decided to go over to the Canfields. They were elated to see us and just couldn't say enough about how they appreciated it. We listened for quite a while, read some scriptures with them, had prayer together and we left. It was not such a big thing for us but it had immense reverberations from them. I was so glad that we had ask for that blessing.

Tonight. after making bread and waiting for it to rise, we are just relaxing and waiting for what is going to happen. We pray that the Lord will watch over everyone. Dad is getting emergency messages from some of his ham friends. They are saying that maybe they will need help after midnight or so when things start happening. We found out also that the people who were going to be over in the Navaro College Gynasium were accepted in one of the rest homes in town. That will be good for them.

We will watch things and if they look too serious we can always go over to the church building since we have a key. I am most worried about all of the mobile homes in the area. There is a major amount of them and they would be the ones that would lose everything first.
