It has been a slow week, but we have been trying to stay positive and do those things we need to do. Yesterday, (Thurs.) we had meetings with two different families in the branch. Sis Jones is a widow and lives with her daughter. The mother is 82 yrs. old and I'm not sure about the daughter. But it is one of those families who you're not quite certain about, but you just love them. They're not quite all the way in the church.
Sis Jone's daughter went on a mission about 20 years ago and is now doing Bible Study with another denomination. I don't know how many years she has not been active. But Sis Jones keeps coming most Sundays. I think it is mostly for the socialization. She is amazingly social. We visited and read some scriptures with her. She did not want us to come to her home. She said she is a poor housekeeper. At least she was honest about that. But she is a sweet lady and easy to love.
The other family we visited was Bro and Sis Sergei. Brother had surgery about three months ago to take out one of his kidneys which was full of cancer. They think they got it all, but he still goes in for tests regularly. He is a Baker analysis Person or something like that. Anyone he is pretty important I think, but he is a very humble man. Since he had his surgery he has been wearing sweats to church because they were easier to wear than his church clothes. Sis Surgei is a music teacher in the public schools. She teaches music therapy. I'm not sure what exactly she does, but she enjoys it well and is talented in Music. She directs the music in Sac. Meeting and plays the piano in primary.
Anyway we enjoyed going into their home. They are older and are converts of about twenty years. We are asking ward members for referrals and we have not been successful. But we will continue our quest. The Sergei, at least, talked about a couple they wanted to have over but they are not quite ready. Maybe we got them to thinking.
Elder Whiting and I are trying to study and practice and learn while we have extra time. We will continue to do whatever the Lord wants us to do.
Today we visited Bob and Millie Cornell ande gave them the second lesson on the articles of faith. We read many scriptures and talked a lot about the Gospel. We got a chuckle out of Bob because he knew we would be doing the rest of the articles of Faith this week and he began looking up some scriptures on his own regarding them. He is amazing. He and Milly watch the BYU Channel and are very interested in the programs the church has on there regarding the various scriptures.
On their calendar, I wrote Bob's Baptism date, and I think he is very excited about it. I know Milly is. He is becoming aware of the spirit teaching him things and tells us about it. We are just having a good experience with him. We love to go there. Next week Elder Whiting is going to help Bob put the floorboards on for a new part of their porch, (after we teach them.) Even though things are closing down, we still have 3 baptisms listed for the month.
Tomorrow is General Conference and we are going to go to the Church and watch it. We may be the only ones there, but it gets us out and maybe we will meet some others over there.

Funny...I was hoping you were going to say that you were going to the church to watch Conference.
Have a great weekend! I hope we all hear something that we need to this weekend and that, most importantly, we feel the Spirit testify that what they have said is true.
Love you....Jenn
Thank you, Jenn. Wasn't it a wonderful conference this afternoon? We tried to go to the church this morning to watch conference, but no one was there to set it up. By the time we got home and going on the computer, it was half over. I totally agree with your comments. Thank you.
What a nice update. What do you mean that things are closing down, though? You sound like you have lots of things to do and people to teach. I like this Bob and Millie. They sound like nice people. You should tell them I said so. :) Well, enjoy conference tomorrow.
Laura
hey I wondered that same thing Laura. What did she mean by that?
