Elder Whiting and i have been on a high after baptizing Bob on Sunday and having such a great experience. It was kind of hard to leave Sunday and go into Monday. Yesterday we drove up to Bob and Millie's house and taught them an after Baptism discussion. We just do not want the branch to drop them and forget about them, so we will keep up our visits for a while. Bob is very, very interested in getting his genealogy started and Temple work done for his family. We are putting him in touch with Pat Weger in our ward who is a genealogist. We also challenged them to prepare people in his family to receive the Gospel.

We are also planning on taking a group of people from our branch to the Temple to do Baptisms the first of next month. We have a whole group that need to be integrated into the Gospel life. This is such a good way to introduce them to the feeling that is in the Temple. We also want and need to get Hollie involved in any way that we can. She only comes to church occasionally. The Branch Pres. keeps promising to give Holly a call, that this has gone on for 13 weeks and we are feeling very badly about it. We are going to take a dessert over and share and talk to her about going to the Temple with us. We hope she will respond positively. It is hard for her because there are so few young people in the branch.

Little Julie is moving back to California with her Mom and grandparents. It makes us feel sad for her. There is a bit of drama there that continues from day to day. She is the hearing impaired girl we baptized about 6 weeks ago. They are moving back to California because they had friends and relatives there that they can depend on. Also they have this court case pending about their son and the police shooting him.

Tonight we are going to the Zach Herrin home to help them come up with their personal missionary family plan. It has really been great so far, the members are seeming to have very ideas and willing hearts. We may not see the fruits of their efforts, but I am thinking the future missionaries here will see them. Zach and Laura, his wife have two little girls. He is in the Bishopric and is a busy guy. He has lived here forever and knows the history of everyone. Their families live here and several other members of their family. you could call it the "Herrin" ward!! (Ha!Ha!) They are good people though, and desire to live the Gospel.

Elder Whiting and I went to the ward building this morning and made copies of the personal missionary plan that we made up for each member, a poster for the next empty nesters where we are going to do Michael McLean, got information off the church computer, talked to the PM people about the church building, and tried to record a video that another missionary couple had loaned to us.

I understand how difficult it is when you feel like you've spent all this time and effort to bring these really special people into the church. You don't want them to lose what they have, but you can't be with them forever. And if the ward members drop the ball, they could very easily fall through the cracks. That's why it's so important that they have you guys there right now! Think what a mess it would be without you.
