Tuestday, March 3 was a very joyful day.
We started out with Cef in the morning. He has come from not believing in God to well, I guess there is one and starting to read to Bible. Yesterday he told us,
"I love what you guys have, I want to have what you have. I love to be around you, I just cannot get enough of that."
Isn't that something? And yet, he has such a difficult time accepting the positive things that we teach him. It has been slow turning him around. But we are definitely seeing progress. We are working on getting him to pray now. Sef is a baptized member when he was 8. Because he has delt with "bad" things, it is very difficult for him to reach back for the spirit. But it is so fulfilling as we teach him step by step. We are hoping ultimately to be able to teach his wife the Gospel.
We had district meeting and then went to Tammi's house. Tammi is also a less active member. We are working with her on quitting smoking and restoring her church attendance. Today we helped her set goals on quitting her smoking and how she feels about it. It is interesting that she mentioned that she actually felt ashamed of her dependence on the cigarettes and how they prevented her for many things because she needed to smoke. It is something that I had never thought about.
Monica is the last one we visited last night. We had dinner with them and taught her the 3rd discussion, and planned her Baptism program. She is very excited. Her date is Feb. 11 and she wants her step dad to baptize her, and confirm. I tried to convince her to have her mom give the talk on the Holy Ghost, but her mom said she would be too scared. So I was deligated to do that. I wish she could have used one of the members. Hmmm, I may recommend one of her friends, yet.
It was a great day of missionary workand the spirit was strong. I'm so grateful to Heavenly Father for this opportunity. I have grown in leaps and bounds and love the feelings the Holy Ghost gives to me. It is so wonderful to work with the spirit with Elder Whiting. We are both recognizing capabilities in each other that make our missionary work so enjoyable.
Today we are headed out to teach Christy the word of wisdom, obedience and are going to focus on getting her to pray. She has already commited to Baptism. We can't baptize her until she and her boyfriend get married, which they are working on.
Tonight we are teaching Mike. I talked to his wife and she is going to be called away to a phone call and let us teach him alone. We feel that she talks down to him and tries to intimidate him into accepting our teachings. We will see what happens. Every day is a new adventure.
