It really is a small world! Today at our zone meeting, we made some interesting discoveries!! We met the new senior missionaries that took our place in Richmond. They are such fine people and will be wonderful there. As we visited we found they were from Ogden. We visited some more and asked them where they lived in Ogden. They lived out by Lorin Farr Park. So I didn't think there was a chance they knew any family.
As we visited further we found out that they lived in my 32nd ward while my dad, Benjamin Herbert Ferrell was bishop. They loved him so much. They also knew my younger siblings by name. It was fun to hear many stories about the ward, my family and their dedication to the Gospel. He talked about Dad's dedication to the Gospel and how hard he worked. He said, he wanted to give me a hug because I was a daughter. He also sat by us during lunch and just couldn't quit talking about my family. Everyone else seemed quite bored, but I thought it was neat!
During lunch Elder Whiting went over to visit with the district leader about the things we had learned. One of the Elders who was sitting at his table noticed his name tag and after a while said to him, "My mom was a Whiting. She was from Salmon, Idaho." His mom was the daughter of George (Tiny) Whiting, who was Elder Whiting's uncle. Tiny worked for Leon's dad for quite a while when we were married and late. He was a very nice man.
he passed away in March of 2012. It is a small world. I think that would make him a second cousin?.
