June 16 - Monday

This is our P day, but we were scheduled to teach a lesson to the Cornell family. They are an older couple. We thought they were both non-members, but she told us today that she had been baptized as a child, but had not attended a lot. He told us today that he is a Jew. Such nice people. We gave them the first lesson, and read in the Book of Mormon with them. They seemed to really enjoy it.

Generally we will not be there longer than 30 minutes, but it is a 20 minute drive to get to Barry and they enjoy company so they talk a lot. Today we were there a least an hour and then we had a difficult time getting away. At the end of the lesson, she told us about being a Mormon and he told us he was a Jew. It all made sense. They have had former spouses and have only been married a few years. They are both very kind hearted.

We read with them a little in the Book of Mormon about missionary work, etc. They seemed to really like it. They said they would come to church on Sunday. We pray that they will. Elder Whiting said to him, "Wouldn't you really like to know if Jesus Christ was the promised Messiah?" It was a spiritual experience that we enjoyed. They responded to the spirit they felt.
