Super-duper Sunday, August 10

When we just think that things have gotten really good, then we are amazed with the Lord makes it even better for us. We are so enjoying our opportunities to serve here in Corsicana. The people are so nice and go out of their way to help us.

This morning in church we just kept having all of these people come to church whom we have been spending time with. They kind of congregate around Elder Whiting and I around the back bench of the chapel. The Burns family of five came today of whom only the mother is a member. They are the same two girls that we met at the ham radio meeting on Friday night. They stayed for all three meetings too!!! Wow!! Wouldn't it be wonderful to able to teach them? We are hoping and praying for that opportunity to open up for us. We do not want to be too pushy with them so we are holding off a little. We are going over to their Grandmother's, Sis Wilhelm and teach some ham radio stuff to her this week. We will feel things out. We will probably drop off a treat for them while we are at it.

The Cornells are there ever week now. I heard Bob introduce himself to someone and say, "I'm not a member of your church yet, but I will be soon." Pretty neat feed-back, we are so blessed by our Heavenly Father. I never dreamed that one could feel so happy over seeing other people come into the Gospel and change their lives.

Holly was at church with her baby also and helped in Relief Society with a knitting and crocheting project for marine's babies. (She told everyone about it and offered to help. She is growing in leaps and bounds. She always stays to all of the meetings with her baby while her inlaws often do not. She is definitely making a place for herself and everyone loves her. I'm so proud of her.

The Patricia and James Ivers have been less active and we have taught them and visited them also. The Vega family was there and Adriana Saul came too. Oh yes, and Sister Reis was there also. Our group is growing and there is a good spirit there. Our subject in Sacrament meeting was on the scriptures and also how we treat others. Elder Whiting and I just get so excited when we see these people come to church.

The only people that did not come was Julie and her family. I know it was her birthday, but what better place could she be on her birthday? As a result we may have to extend her Baptism date into September. She has not come out enough yet. But it will still be good when she is baptized.

We picked up two new appointments this week. One with Sister Nail and her husband. They are a sweet couple in their 50's i would say. He is less active, but she comes out a lot. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could complete some of the families in this ward who are not all members? We pray that we might be able to build families in this way. The other is a media referral.

In our Missionary Meeting today, we decided to have a fall missionary sponsored ward activity at the Zimmerman's home. They have a big house on the water and a boat that all could enjoy. We talked about roasting a wild pig in the ground. That would be so yummy. The Ward leadership approved it today. We still have some details to work out, but we are excited. We need to have some kind of an incentive for those that bring non-member friends.

Elder Whiting told me that today in Priesthood meeting, one of the Bishopric announced to them that he had caught us cleaning the church yesterday. On Thursday and Friday night we noticed that the sprinklers had been running and running, so when we got to the church to clean on Saturday and they were still running, Elder Whiting called him to turn off the sprinklers. (We didn't have a key.) We were almost through when he walked in. He didn't say anything, so we presumed we were still anonymous. Funny!!
